The Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Faith in the Future Foundation are pleased to announce the appointments of Mr. Bill Gibson, Director of Enrollment Management, Mrs. Marie D. Bonner, Director of Government Programs and Mr. Kevin D. Kijewski as Associate Superintendent for Secondary Schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Speaking on the appointments Mr. Christopher Mominey, Chief Operating Officer and Secretary for Catholic Education said, “There is a direct correlation between our success and our people in the Office of Catholic Education. The hiring of Bill Gibson, Marie Bonner and Kevin Kijewski exemplifies our desire to invest in the best leaders who are dedicated to sustaining and growing Catholic Education in the Philadelphia region far into the future.”
Mr. Bill Gibson brings 24 years of experience in admissions, marketing and enrollment management to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He has spent his professional life teaching, coaching and working in Catholic schools. He is a leader in the field of enrollment growth and retention. Most recently, Mr. Gibson served as Dean of Admissions for Malvern Preparatory School in Chester County.
In his new role as Director of Enrollment Management, he will serve as a resource for all 17 Archdiocesan high schools. Initially, he will spearhead enrollment pilot projects at the following six schools: Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast (Delaware County), Bishop McDevitt (Montgomery County), Cardinal O’Hara (Delaware County), Archbishop John Carroll (Delaware County), Bishop Shanahan (Chester County) and Archbishop Ryan (Philadelphia). Mr. Gibson and his wife Joan are members of Saint Pius X Parish in Broomall (Delaware County). His four children are all graduates of Catholic schools. Mr. Gibson has a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership with Principal’s certification and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. His appointment is effective September 30th.
Mrs. Marie D. Bonner joins the Office of Catholic Education after a long and dynamic career in the field of education. Most recently, she has worked with the University of Pennsylvania where she was an Administrative Liaison for the Distributive Educational Leadership Program. Prior, Mrs. Bonner was the Executive Director of Federal Programs for the School District of Philadelphia. She began her career with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and served for over 25 years in varying roles including curriculum chair, vice-principal, and principal. As Director of Government Programs, Mrs. Bonner will work to obtain equitable services for students across the Archdiocese via local, state and federal funding. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Chestnut Hill College and a Master of Science Degree from Villanova University, and is certified as an elementary principal, librarian, and elementary teacher. She joined the Office of Catholic Education on September 3rd.
Mr. Kevin D. Kijewski will join the staff of the Office of Catholic Education effective September 30, 2013 in the position of Associate Superintendent for Secondary Schools. His appointment to OCE will bring more comprehensive attention to the 17 high schools in the areas of curriculum and student services. Mr. Kijewski’s work experience includes instruction on the secondary and higher education levels. Most recently he was the Dean of the Business Administration and Technology Department at Baker College. Mr. Kijewski completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in American History at the University of Detroit Mercy and earned his Master of Education Degree in Social Science and Economic Education at The University of Notre Dame. He has also earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Michigan State University and is currently working toward his Doctorate in Education at Creighton University. Mr. Kijewski and his wife will be relocating from Michigan to Philadelphia.
