Bishop McDevitt HS agrees to pact with Arcadia U

Arcadia University and Bishop McDevitt High School have entered into a long-term strategic alliance which includes the shared use of athletic facilities and a dual enrollment agreement.

The two school’s campuses are located about a block away from each other in Glenside, Montgomery County.

The agreement, which is set for at least 40 years and could be for as long as 55 years, gives the Arcadia athletic teams use of Bishop McDevitt’s fields and will provide other Arcadia programs access to Bishop McDevitt’s multi-purpose field for intramural activities.

“This is an incredible opportunity for both institutions,” said Steve Finley, president of Bishop McDevitt High School. “This is the first step for McDevitt as we move forward creating more opportunities for our students. We’re pleased to strengthen our bond with such a good neighbor.”

Bishop McDevitt field hockey and softball programs will have use of certain athletic facilities at Arcadia. The secular university and the archdiocesan high school will share athletic schedules with each other prior to the fall and spring seasons to ensure against any potential conflicts.

“This agreement will play a significant role in enhancing the educational experiences of our students at both institutions,” said Nicolette DeVille Christensen, president of Arcadia University. “We look forward to a sustained, mutually beneficial relationship and are very proud to have developed such a strategic alliance with this extraordinary high school.”
