Wednesday, March 11th

Mrs. Liz Farren, Bonner and Prendergast Catholic High School (Delaware County) Math Department Chair, was recently named a recipient of the 2015 Delaware County Excellence in Teaching Award (http://www.fmfcu.org/fmfcuinfo/education/excellence.htm). This award was created in 2007 through a partnership between the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit. Any member of the general public is able to nominate a teacher for this prestigious award. Out of all the teachers in Delaware County (public, non-public and DCIU), only 19 are chosen each year.

Nominee’s are evaluated on their performance as a classroom teacher and demonstration of a commitment to education that extends beyond the normal job requirements. This includes time and effort on extracurricular projects and activities and acts that benefit children in general.

Dr. Tracey Rush, Principal of Bonner & Prendie said, “A quick glance into Mrs. Farren’s classroom reveals students who are actively engaged in learning and eager to participate. She varies her teaching methods and style to accommodate all students and guide them to reach her high standards of both academics and behavior. As the Math Department Chair, Mrs. Farren consistently challenges her members to think outside the box and be creative in the design and implementation of their lessons. She does all of this with a smile on her face and a genuine love for her craft that cannot be hidden.”
