Roman Catholic High School Mock Trial Team Wins City Championship and Places Second in State

Recently, the Roman Catholic High School Mock Trial team competed in the finals of the John S. Bradway Philadelphia High School Mock Trial Competition at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.  Roman defeated Saint Joseph’s Prep, 9-0, to win the competition and the 2015 City Championship. This was Roman’s second straight city title, third overall, having also won in 2014.

The team is coached by Roman alumnus and Villanova Law student, Steve Patton, along with faculty member John Pensabene. Michael Schwoerer won the “Best Attorney for the Prosecution” award and Anthony Nguyen won the “Best Witness Award.” Following their win in the City Championship, Roman’s team represented Philadelphia in the state tournament, which took place in Harrisburg on March 27th and 28th.  They placed second just behind Quigley Catholic High School from Baden, PA (Beaver County)
